How do HoneyBook and Dubsado handle contracts and e-signatures?

HoneyBook and Dubsado both support client contracts and e-signatures.

Both tools do contracts properly, which is the main reason photographers and planners use them.

HoneyBook lets you start from "legally-vetted templates," add your branding and smart fields, and have clients e-sign from any device, with notifications when they open or sign (online contracts). You can attach the contract to a proposal so a client chooses services, signs and pays in one flow. HoneyBook's own phrase is "book, sign, and pay from a single link" (proposals).

Dubsado offers e-signatures through the client portal, time-stamped and IP-tracked records, contract variations, countersigning and smart fields such as dynamic dates and pricing tables (contracts).

How do HoneyBook and Dubsado handle invoicing and payments?

HoneyBook includes invoices and payment processing on every plan, while Dubsado supports invoices, payment plans, autopay and recurring billing.

HoneyBook includes invoices and payments on every plan. It processes payments itself: its pricing page says card fees start at 2.7% + 10 cents and bank transfers are 1.5% (a comparison table on the same page shows 2.9% + 25 cents, so confirm before you sign).

Dubsado supports line-item invoices, custom payment plans, autopay, automatic payment reminders and recurring invoices for retainers (invoices). Its invoice page does not name a payment processor, so check which one fits your country.

How do HoneyBook and Dubsado compare for scheduling?

HoneyBook offers scheduling from Essentials, while Dubsado offers scheduling on Premier.

HoneyBook's scheduler syncs with Google, Apple, Outlook, Yahoo or AOL calendars, adds buffer time and lets clients pay per session (meeting scheduler). It starts on Essentials.

Dubsado's scheduler can require payment to book, bundle appointment options, set buffers and availability rules, connect Zoom, Google Meet and Microsoft Teams, and attach forms (scheduler). It is on Premier.

Forms and questionnaires

HoneyBook limits live lead forms by plan: 2 on Starter, 10 on Essentials, unlimited on Premium (pricing).

Dubsado forms cover client questionnaires and lead capture forms you embed on your site, with branding and custom CSS for people who want an exact look (forms). Starter allows 1 active lead capture form; Premier is unlimited (pricing).

How do HoneyBook and Dubsado compare on price?

For a solo creative who needs a scheduler and automations:

  1. HoneyBook Essentials: $49 a month billed yearly, which is $588 a year, with up to 2 team members.
  2. Dubsado Premier: $525 a year, with 3 additional users free.

Without a scheduler, HoneyBook Starter at $29 a month ($348 a year) sits close to Dubsado Starter at $335 a year. For a team past two people, HoneyBook needs Premium at $109 a month billed yearly, while Dubsado charges $25 a month for 4 to 10 users (Dubsado pricing). HoneyBook's yearly prices currently show a 25% discount against struck-through prices, so check whether the offer still applies.

Is HoneyBook or Dubsado easier to set up?

HoneyBook is usually quicker to start with, thanks to its proposal flow and bundled AI, while Dubsado's detailed workflows and forms take longer to set up.

Neither vendor publishes a setup time, so test both with a real client. As a rule of thumb, HoneyBook's proposal flow and bundled AI aim at getting started quickly. Dubsado's strength is detailed workflows that send packets, generate invoices and activate portals at each milestone (workflows), and forms you can style with CSS. That depth takes more time to build, and pays off if you like to fine-tune.

Can Flori replace HoneyBook or Dubsado?

Flori is not a replacement for HoneyBook or Dubsado. It does not send invoices, collect payments, handle contracts or e-signatures, or offer booking pages. If those are what you need, pick one of the two tools above.

It holds your clients and pipeline (accounts, people, deals) next to projects, tasks with dependencies, boards and a client page (Core and up) where clients follow progress and approve from one link. You can record invoices and payments you received from your booking tool (Premium). Your own AI, such as Claude or ChatGPT, connects over MCP to work on tasks, with results waiting in a review queue. Flori is free to start; see pricing. More: HoneyBook alternative, Dubsado alternative, Flori for freelancers.
