Give Claude project memory with a shared project record

By Aleksandar Perak, founder · Published · Updated

Use agentic project management to keep decisions available to your next Claude conversation. Flori provides project management for AI agents through saved project context that Claude can retrieve when you allow access.

What project memory means here

In this guide, memory means project context saved in Flori and read through the connection. It does not change Claude’s model or its built-in memory settings. Claude sees the context returned by tools it calls within the access you grant.

1. Connect Claude

In Flori, open Settings → Connections and choose Connect under Claude. Follow the guide to add Flori, sign in and enable it in your chat. Custom connectors require a supported Claude plan; team administrators may need to add it first. See the full Claude setup guide.

2. Save a useful brief

Put the goal, current state, constraints, decisions and next task into a Flori project. Use a short factual brief. Link to source material and mark uncertain information so it does not become an assumed fact in the next session.

Goal: [desired outcome]
Current state: [what is actually finished]
Constraints: [what must stay true]
Decisions: [choice, reason and date]
Open questions: [what still needs an answer]
Next task: [specific next step]
Sources: [relevant links]

3. Start each session from the record

Read my Flori workflow and search for [project name]. Read the project brief and relevant tasks before proposing work. Summarize the last confirmed decision, what remains open and the next step. Ask about missing context instead of filling it in.

4. Save the outcome

Enable Keep work updated in Flori, connect with update access and use the standing instruction in your work chat. Normal tool approvals still apply. Ask Claude to preserve the existing record while adding decisions, results, blockers and next steps.

Save a concise update to the matching Flori project or task: what changed, what was decided, what is still blocked and the next action. Include links to sources or finished work. Only mark tasks done when their requested outcome actually happened.

5. Verify continuity

Check Saved from your assistants in Flori. Start a fresh Claude chat with Flori enabled and ask for the last confirmed decision and next task. Compare the answer with the saved record. You can also connect another supported assistant to the same project for a handoff.

Why an update may be missing

A regular Claude chat may finish without saving an update. The instruction helps, but it cannot guarantee every save. Claude Code has a separate optional package that can check for missing saves when work ends. If there is no confirmed save, ask the assistant to save the missing result and check it before closing the session.

Keep decisions distinct from chat summaries

A long transcript often hides the reason for a choice. Save the decision and its consequence instead: “Use the existing sign-in flow because customers already have accounts; next task is to check its recovery path.” Add the source link and mark anything you have not verified. Correct a superseded decision before asking Claude to continue.

Anthropic says “tools and data sources”. Source checked October 16, 2026.

Anthropic’s custom connection reads external context through tools. It does not turn the entire Flori workspace into permanent model memory. The assistant must retrieve the relevant record, and a connection limited to one project excludes the others.

Diagnose a failed fresh-chat test

  1. If Claude cannot find Flori tools, enable the connection in the new chat before asking about the project.
  2. If it sees no project, check the workspace and project selected during Flori sign-in. An access boundary can legitimately return no result.
  3. If the project is present but the latest decision is missing, open Saved from your assistants. A prior chat may have ended without making a save.
  4. If there is a confirmed save but the answer is wrong, ask Claude to read the specific task again and compare with its notes. Do not let a guessed summary overwrite the record.
  5. When a save failed, preserve the original notes and append the missing outcome with its source. Check the result before closing the session.

The trade-off is deliberate maintenance: concise project context is easier to check than an entire conversation, but someone must keep it current. Use original documents for detailed evidence and Flori for the decision, result and next action.
